I called the police because my husband threatened to kill me and he gave them incorrect height, weight, work phone #.Is giving false information about yourself to a police office a crime.?
No not likely - it would have been if he gave wrong name or DOB.
His physical description is avail on his DL and prior CQH information. Is giving false information about yourself to a police office a crime.?
Depending on your state, it could be.
In my state, it would be a Misdemeanor, providing false information the the police.
If his false info disrupted the course of the officers investigation, then an additional charge of hindering an official investigation might be appropriate (if your state has a similar statute).
Both are usually petty things that cops won't normally resort to citing unless they think it is being done on purpose to frustrate the cops OR in an actual attempt to hinder the investigation.
A lot falls onto intentional or knowingly providing false........
I would guess that the info you said he gave incorrectly looks like he is trying to conceal his basic physical description.
Hopefully you have been provided with options of support and self sufficiency seeing the situation you are in is not a good one.
Best of luck to you!
it is a crime but in this instance...a cop could really care less if you say you're 10lbs, as long as he has your REAL name that's all he cares about and needs, everything else falls into place from there. Why lie about such petty things? Lie about your name...then there will be problems
