What is the punishment for giving false information to the police? Need HeLp NOW?

Laat night i gave the police a wrong name (my sis name) and they booked me (with her name and information) and released me this morning. On my court date i plan on telling them who really am. So does anyone know what my charges will be for that and how much jail time they can give me..if any? What is the punishment for giving false information to the police? Need HeLp NOW?
Its likely an obstruction of justice charge. Now the punishment depends heavily on where you live and what crime you committed to get arrested in the first place - for example, if you lied about your name about a parking ticket vs a homicide - big difference. The punishment for obstructing justice ranges from fines to up to 10 years jail time depending on the severity of the situation. Speak to a criminal defense lawyer immediately to help defend your case and lessen potential punishments.

And next time dont lie to the police. Youre causing more problems for yourself, and youre getting your sister involved. What is the punishment for giving false information to the police? Need HeLp NOW?
Congratulation, you are a wonderful sister. Until you clean up this mess she has a criminal charge on her record.

You need to straighten this out now before your court date and before the state proceeds with charging you sister.

You will have additional charges added, at a minimum it will be a heavy fine. You will probably be looking at a bit of jail (depending upon what the inital charge was)
If you signed ANY paperwork at all, it's forgery.

By law it would also likely be identity theft.

You've just added a couple of felonies to your original charge, which I'm sure was only some crap misdemeanor.
