What is false information to authoritys according to the law ?

could be obstruction of justice

coulde be filing a false report

could be larcenyWhat is false information to authoritys according to the law ?
a lieWhat is false information to authoritys according to the law ?
False information is information you give to police agency that you know is not true, causing them to enter into an investigation that they would have not otherwise done if they knew the information was not true.
in England it is a chargable offence called perverting the cause of justice
lying or not telling the complete truth(omitting details)

My car was hit by someone that gave me false insurance information, what do i do?

my car was hit by someone that gave me her name and insurance information, when i called to report the auto accident to her insurance company they had no record of a customer with the policy she provided me with nor the name. She did write down her CA Drivers License # - I do not have license plate # either. I currently do not have insurance for my car. What Should I do?My car was hit by someone that gave me false insurance information, what do i do?
is this one of those 'blond jokes' ? LMAOMy car was hit by someone that gave me false insurance information, what do i do?
You still should have called the Police and gotten a ticket for an un-insured vehicle. Unless your car is not even registered. She acted shady but so did you so no one will feel sorry for you. Look at it this way, we all have to pay insurance so why should you be exempt?

This is like the guy that went on Judge Mathis. He tried to sue his friend for a drug deal gone bad.
very simple your gonna eat this one --right it up as i learned something you wont do it again will ya?
So somebody with no insurance ran into your dumb +++ with no insurance?

Sounds like fate to me.
Chalk it up to experience. When involved in a accident you always call the police then you have an official report and they know if the people involved are legit or lying losers. And you should have insurance yourself.
too bad... Why didn't you get the license plate number?

better luck next time.
kick your self or pay a lot of money to a private investigation
As you don't have insurance, you're basically screwed. Most states now have no-play, no-pay rules. If you don't have insurance, you're not entitled to collect anything even when the other driver is clearly at-fault. You MIGHT get coverage for hospital bills but that's about it.

You compounded this by not writing down the tag # of the other vehicle.

So, you should basically get your car fixed at your own expense and move on.

Oh yeah, one more thing: GET INSURANCE, STUPID!!
you need to report to the authority. Im sure you have seen the persons face. At least give them the description so that they can take action on the person.
Word of advice: When YOU get hit, ALWAYS call a cop to file a police report.
The only thing your going to be able to do in this case is contact the police to file a report. They should be able to locate her info with drivers license number. Once that is done, next step would be to contact a lawyer, and take her to small claims. Because it sounds like if she lied about insurance then she most likely doesnt have any. Good Luck
have the police track her down
Call the police. Tell them the story.
get your own car fixed and get insurance!
ONE, learn from this, copy info from their driver's license, write down plate number. TWO, get and have insurance. THREE, other than learning valuable lessons, you are ******.
Next time, verify all information!

This time, Pull out your wallet!
Sounds like your screwed
You should stop breaking the law by driving with out insurance. Also always call a cop to a accident if any damage is involved. Unless you do not have insurance. Frankly you might as well bend over and take it like a man because you been sc***ed.
Oh man..... I don't have an answer but that has got to suck

What is false information to authoritys according to the law ?

anything that is intentionally untrue. Giving a false name to an officer, or lying on your taxes. Any lie or obfuscation is false information in the eyes of the law.

  • Can someone be sued for slander if they start a myspace page about you and give false information.?

and if so is there a way for myspace to find out who is doing it?Can someone be sued for slander if they start a myspace page about you and give false information.?
Most definetly. I was reading on the news that two highschoolers started a myspace under their HS teacher name. She found out a month later and sued the parents.....Can someone be sued for slander if they start a myspace page about you and give false information.?
Its defamation if its false and defamitory. It generally must cause you harm and you must prove that others have read it

As far a myspace disclosing information; I would say imposible.
If you could find out who it was, you would have to prove you were damaged by their false information. If you were, for example, fired from your job or refused medical services because of what they posted, you might have a case. It is incredibly tough to prove that you were damaged if you were only personally embarassed by it but it didn't have much of an effect on your day to day life. Also, even if you are able to find who it is, and prove your case, and get a jury to award you a verdict, it would very likely be next to impossible to collect the verdict. I don't think, for the most part, that someone with lots of assets would probably be on myspace wasting their time by creating fake accounts.
there is a possiblity.. talk 2 a lawyer that handles slander.. at this moment i'm trying 2 get a lawyer through the bar association in my county 2 sue the city of detroit, 4 slandering me on the computer.. i did find a lawyers name, just haven't made contact yet..so type in bar association in the seach bar an see what you can come up with..
Freedom of speech, my dear. People can say anything they want about you--and post anything about you they choose. However, if what they post is inaccurate and actually impacts you in some way--like prevents you from getting a job, because your future employer saw the page and didn't hire you--then you might have more of a case to actually sue someone.
I've heard that this is freedom of speech. There was a case not too long ago where some woman made negative comments about an ex boyfriend on a ';';don't date my ex'; website or something like that.

SO, if it really bothers you, only a lawyer can give you that info.
Yes! But before you do....... You better check to see that they can't prove it!
First, it's libel, not slander. Slander is spoken and libel is written. Yes they can be sued if the information is untrue, however if it's stated in anyway as an opinion, then it's Freed on Speech. Also, myspace can of course find out who wrote it.
First you wouldsue the person for libel not slander. Roughly speaking libel is for written defamation and slander is for spoken.

Second you would have to prove that the person defamating you was identifiably libeling you, and you specifically.

And finally you must prove that the libelous comments have negatively effected you in some way. Loss of business or earning opurtunity, reputation in the community, etc.
They should be sued! Besides: MySpace SUCKS!
It would then be libel, not slander.
RIght it would be libel and myspace isn't held to the same standards that say the New York times is. Essentially its as if somebody wrote something nasty about you on a bathroom wall. You'd have to prove the person knew it was false and deliberatley did it to harm you..

Giving false information to a police officer - Speeding Fine?

My friend was driving and got a speeding ticket she lives in New Jersey, anyways.. she thought her licence was suspended so she gave her friends details, then she didnt pay the fine.. then her friend contested the speeding fine.. and now the court is calling her in as a witness as her boyfriends car's licence plate was recorded.. shes thinking about pleading the 5th. Do you have any advice and what type of punishment can she expect ?Giving false information to a police officer - Speeding Fine?
It's easier to tell the truth, than remember a lie. Invoking your 5th amendment rights really doesn't work in traffic court. Unless someone confesses, and pleads guilty, the person who is appearing in court is going to have a lot of questions to answer, and without positive proof, they are going to be facing a brick wall. If your friend doesn't show up to clear this mess, then obviously she isn't much of a friend. Good Luck.Giving false information to a police officer - Speeding Fine?
Sounds like too much drama to me. She needs to ';relax'; her life a little, and maybe she won't be getting into trouble.

What she needs to do is be completely honest. She will most likely have to spend some time in jail, but you NEVER lie to a Police Officer.

The truth WILL come out, so it is in her best interest to fess up!
Falsification, Obstruction of Official Business, and the original traffic violations.

It would be wise not to lie in Court, that would be perjury.
The fifth amendment protects us from self-incrimination. Since the third party here didn't do anything wrong, she has no self-incrimination issues and can be ordered to testify or jailed for contempt if she refuses.

This all only applies if I understood what you wrote...it's a little tough to follow when everyone is called a ';friend'; and nobody has a name.

Advice: go to court and tell the truth. Anything less runs the risk of being jailed.
She can plead the 5th but I suspect in the end she will be cited/jailed for impedding an investigation and in the end could also be fined/jailed for providing false information. . . .what she did was dumb and now it's time to pay the price for her stupidity.
Quit hanging around liars and law breakers. What good can come from being mixed up with dishonest people who have no respect for the rules of life, the law, and the police? She should tell the truth and take what's coming to her and change her ways before I would have anything to do with her.
False Informing/Reporting here is punishable by up to a $5000 fine and one year in jail. Not the smartest thing to do. She's probably looking at a few days in jail.
some friend she is.. why didnt she work it out with the person who's name she used and then just pay the fine by the due date? she's caused a whole lot more trouble than necessary. and she shouldnt have been driving inthe first place, and her boyfriend is a dick for letting her drive his car knowing she was suspended. i dont know what she'll get but whatever it is she deserves it.

Is ';is dissenting false information';and';consuming alcohol under 21'; a felony?

My sister has been charged with it, and I just want to know if it's a felony:

charges: Consuming alcohol under the age of 21 and Dissenting false information (I think she used a fake id.)

Is ';is dissenting false information';and';consuming alcohol under 21'; a felony?
That would be two misdemeanors (no felonies) in NY State.

While your sister will not like the punishment for these offenses ... she probably will not go to jail.

Some pretty healthy fines will put a big dent in her finances, mandatory alcohol counseling, loss of driving privileges for 1 year, the fake ID would be confiscated and destroyed (of course).

Is she in some real trouble ... yes! Is she on her way to prison ... NO!Is ';is dissenting false information';and';consuming alcohol under 21'; a felony?
Possessing alcohol under 21 or using fake ID to try to buy booze are only misdemeanors. Manufacturing or selling fake IDs for that purpose, however, is a felony. After all, throwing a kid in jail for over a year just for buying a beer would be a tad harsh, even under our police state.
It is probably up to the District Attorney, and may be based up whether she has a rap sheet or not. It's all about choices people make - good and bad.
well bottom line drinking under 21 is a felony.. so she will be charged.

im pretty sure lying to the cops is a felony too.
    Consuming Alcohol, yes.

    Not sure about dissent.

Can you enter in false information on sweepstakes?

Me and my friend were messing around on this sweepstakes site for smokers. We entered in false information to see if it actually worked. It said it registered, but I checked and the site said that if we entered in false information it might be breaking a law. Therefore, I called the site to try to cancel the info. However, the person said that I was not on the mailing list. I gave her the name we entered and she did not believe that was my name. Am I gonna traced through my cell or something? Did we do something bad?Can you enter in false information on sweepstakes?
Don't worry about it. Law Enforcement has bigger fish to fry than this. There's a serial Jaywalker on the loose in Manhattan, you know. Can you enter in false information on sweepstakes?
They won't bother with you. By agreeing to any info is just their way of protecting themself. They'll send out coupons to a 5 year old, they only want your name and info to sell it to other companies and to buy their products. If you entered an email address, they'll send tons of email to you, or whoever's email you entered. They cannot trace you through your cell. They will not bother with you. As far as the sweepstakes go, there usually is a lot of follow up for you to do and buy. Just ignore the emails or calls. You won't get in any trouble.
    Don't worry about it.
    Thats prison time--- lol j/k

    dont worry about it
It probably won't matter unless you are the winner of the Sweepstakes. Then you will be disqualified.

My old landlord gave my new landlord a letter stating false information. Is that legal? It was never requested?

If the letter is written and contains information that is factually both false and injurious, that is considered defamation, and is a civil tort. The amount you could recover depends on your damages resulting from it.My old landlord gave my new landlord a letter stating false information. Is that legal? It was never requested?
Well, it's defamation for starters. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Libel for an overview of the way you might caluculate civil dmgs in your case.

if you can prove that the information given to the police was false you have grounds to sue for false arrest.

Did the vendor attempt to take payment from your bank and if the vendor did there is your proof however if the vendor did not attempt to take a payment form your account and you had authorised it then the vendor has gone against your wishes. go to qld law society @ www.qls.com.au or legal aid @ www.legalaid.qld.gov.au both services can provide you with free information regarding this matter. if your not in qld those two sites can redirect you to your states website

  • Can you sue a doctor for giving you false medical information;failing to mention cancer causing cells?

I had a medical procedure done to test the severity of my cervical dysplasia. My former doctor told me that I only had mild dysplasia and I don't need to worry. I recently switched doctors and she noticed on my test results that I have CIN III which is severe dysplasia and is one step lower than cancer cells. Is there anything I can do to this previous doctor? Can you sue a doctor for giving you false medical information;failing to mention cancer causing cells?
If you want to pay an attorney and the attorney can convince a jury that the doctor was negligent and that the doc's negligence caused you harm, then you have a potential lawsuit on your hands.

Some things to consider: How do you know that the present doctor is correct and the previous was wrong; and how do you know that your condition has not worsened since the visit to the previous doctor? If you don't have solid answers to these questions, its unlikely you would win a suit against your former doctor. Can you sue a doctor for giving you false medical information;failing to mention cancer causing cells?
medical knowledge is happening so fast that many of the doctors

simply cannot keep up. to some extent, dysplasia is a judgement

call. he probably told you to keep an eye on the situation. also,

you did not mention how much time elapsed between the two

diagnoses. this is a progressive condition that could have simply

    progressed.

to keep any lawauit from being just another suit over nothing you

would need to be able to prove he knew the condition was worse

than he stated and that he diliberately lied to you about it.

How many times have you heard false information about your religion here on Yahoo Answers?

There are so many people who think they know everything about everybody else's religion. Don't you feel like telling them to study before they answer? How many times have you heard false information about your religion here on Yahoo Answers?
All the time! Sometimes its so frustrating that I want to tell them off....but I control myself :)How many times have you heard false information about your religion here on Yahoo Answers?
People twist things to suit their arguments, regardless of fact, though in some cases its the blind leading the blind as some fickle followers just nod their heads like mindless zombies and go with the flow of the mo!!
Well, I'm new to the web and new to Y/A..so how many times have I heard false info about my religion and others? About 500 times in the past week or two. It's also amazing that the degenerates and nay-sayers very often refer to this site as theirs. It will only become 'theirs' if all reason and rational cease to exist. Freedom of Speech, YES. Yelling fire in a crowded theater, stupid, unlawful, careless, reckless, and dangerous.
literally, all the time. its so annoying. i'm jewish, and the common perception of people who don't know anything about judaism is that judaism is just ';christianity without jesus.'; they are always barking at us because of original sin, hell, priests, religious intolerance, preaching and missionizing, etc, when in truth these were all ideas invented by christianity and ideas which judaism rejects and abhors.

    sorry for the rant.
none. (im buddhist) my religion doesn't really have things to be argued over, it hink. so far i haven't seen anybody disagree on any content of buddhism, except those who who just try to convince others to believe in god as they do
Stick with spirituality. Religion is just a reason to control you, take your money, and give you a reason to fight. Maybe someone else's definition of what you call ';your'; religion is different than yours. See what I mean, you probably want to fight now.

    all-righty-then. =)

....so many questions either sound like attacks or rants that I can't help the sarcasm sometimes. No offense to serious questions.
i agree mate, there is no point in answering if you have no idea,
About a million times. Of course, one third of them are from Dr Zoom Zoom. Does the same person count as one time or many?
I may have a college education..... but im sorry i cant count that high.... the number of false statements about Christ and the Bible and the doctrines that people ';assume or believe'; are being taught is unbelievable.

As for studying before they ask yes I believe thats a wonderful idea.... but when I do answer some of the statements made I always provide a scriptural reference or paste the scripture itself in the text so that they can see it for themselves and possibly be motivated to see what else Gods word has to say.
i stopped Counting.......Damn....there is So Much.........
Bush always wants Islam follow his preech.

And people of US know Islam from Bush speech.

And they clapped hand in smile while thousand people died in Iraq, Afghan and Palestine.
Several times a day. I think people make up more lies about Islam and misrepresent it, than any other religion discussed on this website. That's why I feel it's important for the real Muslims to be vocal about the truth about Islam and be consistent in the presentation of their understanding of the faith.
A few times, but not as often as some might expect. I generally find misinformation is disseminated most by religious leaders to their followers, more so there than what I have seen here. Here it seems to be misperceptions or just slight misunderstandings that occasional appear and many times there are enough other Hindus that visit the site to clear up those misunderstandings and misperceptions. Occasionally, though, it is misinformation that was disseminated to the person that finds its place here on this site and in those few instances thankfully there are Hindus on this site who are patient enough to correct the misinformation and explain it as best they can. I, too, try my best when I come across it.
    innumerable
I have literally seen thousands of misrepresentations of Christianity on here, from believers and non believers alike.

Yes I wish people would educate themselves about that which they speak before hand.
EVERYDAY HUNNY. I JUST TRY TO IGNORE IT.
Not only get an education before they answer but also before they ask dumb questions in an attempt to criticize
    a lot
Yes, I urge everyone to study about RA, the sun god.

He will cast all unbelievers into the TOMB of 10,000 Snakes!

Just accept him now! Why run the risk?
I have observed many misconceptions regarding many religions, most of which are self-serving to the ones presenting them.
    Often.
    YES! Wiccan.... : )
No, I never ask a bunch of dummies to comment on my Baptist faith.
But see, if they really spent time studying and were interested in actual insight, they prolly wouldn't come around here. I just come around for the fun.
approx 50/50 for me. however i bear in mind of my imprefect mind, i told the story as honest %26amp; truthful to best of my knowledge as i can.
I am an optimist here (maybe by level 6 that will change)

I hope people can discern the difference between truth and false info, and 1 % of the info sinks in to help others gain knowledge

then again, people don't even know about the spell check button ---- oh no, I'm becoming a pessimist
Many, many, many... and not only about my own religion... and I have been coming here less than a week. It's disturbing that we have access to so much knowledge and choose not to seek it.
Well, yes and no. Nobody knows everything. We all think we know enough about something to make a statement or have an opinion. I have to hope we learn from things people say, and they learn from our responses.

But I do not like anyone who judges a whole group because they are one religion or race. BUt we are all guilt of judging. We are human.

    False information on contest winnings?

I recently won a contest, but i used false information in attempt to gain more entries. I now have to fill out an affidavit in order to receive my prize. what does the law state on this and what would you suggest i do?False information on contest winnings?
well did you win under your real name and information or did you win under all false information?

IF you won under false info dont claim it just incase something backfires

How much would a ticket for false information ticket cost?

The question is unclear. Are you talking about having a fake auto-insurance card, or are you talking about having a fake drivers' license?

By the way, in California, if the CHP pulls you over and you give them a fake drivers license, you are in DEEP SH*T.

That happened to a friend of mine and he says it was the thing he regrets the most in his entire life.

In most states, if you are caught passing a fake drivers license to a policeman when you are driving, it is a felony and you will immediately be arrested. You will probably go to jail. It is totally not worth it. There are HUGE fines involved. Like, thousands of dollars.

For example, the fine for simply having a fake ID in your wallet in Maryland is $1500. Maybe more in other states. And that's just for getting caught on the sidewalk, in front of a club. It is one thing to have a fake drivers license, and quite another to actually get caught *driving* with a fake license. If your license has been suspended and you give a cop a fake drivers license, you are in serious trouble.

You should also know that if you fail to produce valid identification, the police are able to arrest you and hold you until they can prove who you are. That means your *ss sits in jail until you tell them who you really are. They can write you up for all kinds of stuff, like failing to follow an officer's directions, attempting to deceive an officer, etc.

Is it wrong to give false information on your personal life until...?

Is it wrong to give false or misleading information to people about where you go and what you do while actually being with a new boyfrined, until you figure how things are going with him, until you decide if you want people to know you're dating him ? mothers included ?Is it wrong to give false information on your personal life until...?
It's always wrong to do that and it's foolish too. If something real bad happens you'll be the one who suffer the outcome. Is it wrong to give false information on your personal life until...?
I don't think it's the end of the world but I think if you lie to people who are close to you and who trust you then it might not be a good idea.

So I think that maybe you should tell your mom where you're going for safety reasons as well as just to keep her informed about what's going on in your life which she's appreciate but I don't think you need to tell her what you're doing.

But I think you can tell a few white lies to your friends and other relatives if you don't want them knowing.

    Please help

    I agree with DearVien. There is a chinese saying that: One ear will spread through mouths. It meants that if you say it will your friends, your friends will spread the rumour to others. Why don't you say you got a new boyfriend, but only want to know him as a friend? Not sure if it is mother proof though.....%26gt;%26lt;
Best is to avoid answering them if you can. I agree with you as people always want to know everything and I think that sometimes some people ask too many questions. You want things to be right in your own mind before you have to answer to other people.
I never tell people about my new partners, just like to spend time with him alone without people bugging me about meeting them and asking loads of questions
yes its wrong if your misleading someone. if your young dont worry about it. not a big deal.
why would you be ashamed for people to know your going out with him? because it sounds like that... you should just tell people you've got a new boyfriend, its easiest for everyone

I got caught shoplifting, and I gave false information?

I am going to court for pety theft. I got arrested and then released after being bailed out. I gave a fake social security, because I feared being deported. Now im going to court next month and now really fear being deported because of the fake socialI got caught shoplifting, and I gave false information?
    Leave the country

YOU are why immigration is such a problem..

maybe it wouldnt be such a big deal

if the immigrants werent the ones committing the crimesI got caught shoplifting, and I gave false information?
you shouldn't have been shoplifting in the first place. if you really wanted the item, you should have waited until you had money or borrowed the money from a friend. Now, no matter what you do, you will be deported. I wish you the best, though, and next time dont shoplift or give fake i.d.
i think they will deport you for the falsely identifying your self and the person who has that ss# is going to be pissed off when they get picked up for failure to appear in court even if they get off cause of the prints don't match

GOING TO JAIL IS A REAL BUMMER EVEN IF YOU DON'T HAVE TO STAY LONG!!
honestly all that fake social security number gave the cops is that you had no criminal record appear when they ran it shouldn't come up in court. so show up or they will come and find you and if they have to do that then they will do further checking and find out it is fake
hey well done now you will be deported.

if you do not show up at court there will be bench warrant issued for you.

once they catch you and they will you will spend time in jail then get deported

    yeah nice job

people like you who steal then lie about it are not wanted here
You have converted a minor misdemeanor to a felony. Nice job. you can stay in the states with a misdemeanor in some cases. You can't with a felony. Pack now.
Thats not an advice to do something illegal, but if I were in a situation that is similar to yours I'd just leave town, they'd have no way to track me because in their record - I won't be exist.

    Good luck.
Go HOME TO WHEREEVER U CAME FROM WE DONZT WANT YOU

  • Can we sue the media for false information?

Where not CNBC's anchors admiting fowl reporting live with Ron Paul's opening statement 2009.02.25?

Not that i agree with RP but this is un fair reporting,, proves how bias they are to participate in propaganda and lies what you guys think?

Here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aW2V50AS7鈥?/a>Can we sue the media for false information?
Seriously, we should sue the media, law enforcement licenses are mandatory for reporters but for anchors, no, they can take words form there places kike the corrupted scribes moses warned the world about in the bible who will change words from place to place with a pen.Can we sue the media for false information?
If it were legit reasoning and proveable in court.Would make critics out of every lawsuit hound in the coutry, it might even be the new frontier.

But that would be a hornets nest or a butt load of trouble, reporters are known to be pretty shrewd.
The media has gotten away with far too much over the years. Unsubstantiated reporting should be noted as being unsubstantiated so that the public knows.

    - Pepper.
sorry but after hearing her say that Ron Paul got free air time i am convinced AIPAC and criminal ultra capitalists pigs paid off the news station.
a class action against the media could help america WAKE UP BEFORE ITS TOO LATE!
    Go ahead.

Take the case to its logical conclusion.
Okay sue them.I agree with you.
People do sue the media all the time, especially broadcast stations like PRO ISRAEL ones,

for example once WCBS in NY used footage they had never got permission for by the owner who shot it, CBS thought they snatched and copied a by standers video camera until they found out he was also a private investigator after they aired it with out his permission.

Most stories in the news come from Associated Press (AP), the rest are from News Reporters who carry a updated license and who can provide stories an evidence to back them up so the networks do not breech agreements with the local and national authorities which could violate citizens rights, in most popular cases been violation of privacy.

For example in the State of NY, the news cameras are allowed to use anything they taped out side n the street, even if it is you naked in your home standing in the window, how ever, they can not video tape even a interview that can stand up in court unless the district attorney can indict someone based on hard evidence., so what they do is shoo from the street while record the audio in person, in cases where stories they cover can not be delayed by the DA's office's approval for further investigating, so to put it simply, the DA and the Networks work hand in hand, some stories are used as evidence to indict criminals.

But in the case of politics as we see here with Ron Paul, it should be clear by networks that the OPINIONS EXPRESSED BY THE ANCHORS ARE NOT NECESSARILY BACKED BY THE NETWORK, i watched the video and she said Ron Paul for free air time, which means what, AIPAC pays for it?

That is a criminal offense n my opinion if true, the public should sue them for that one, the evidence is there, the public should also put pressure on Obama and the White house to present the names and firms of wall street investors they bailed out, like they already did to US citizens who where investigated for possible tax frauds using Swiss Bank Accounts.

My closing statement is simple, people have to act now using the law and by the law an stand against the law if the law makers are corrupted to expose them too., i think we are run by criminals in the white house and israel personally.

Can you name something taught by your teacher in school that was either false information or a blatant lie?

I'll see if I can remember...

The US Patent system fosters innovation is one thing they taught us that wasn't true. It actually stifles it.

The character Hamlet was an indecisive weenie. There are Shakespeare scholars that dispute that convincingly.

Can't think of anything else, although I'm sure some would come to me if I gave it some time. Can you name something taught by your teacher in school that was either false information or a blatant lie?
My sons kindergarten teacher told him that there was no such thing as an otter and that Germany was not part of Europe. Can you name something taught by your teacher in school that was either false information or a blatant lie?
7th grade Health and PE, when we were studying illegal drugs. Nothing but propaganda, but it took most of the curiosity away for me. Peer pressure was another matter though...
    Christopher Columbus was a hero.

He treated the Native Americans decently.

I think everyone is taught that lie though!
    Pluto. Its not a planet.

My US teacher said the Constitution was his b****, but I disagree, I think its mine.

In second grade my teacher told us that ';wrestling'; was spelled ';wresteling';.

In kindergarten my teacher told me that a turtle was an amphibian.
My 4th grade teacher told my mother I had a learning disorder...she actually used the term ';Slow'; ha ha ha.

I went on to be class valedictorian and was on the honor roll every year for the rest of my school career.

I stopped when I obtained a degree in psychology.

I don't know why she said that, I always had good grades.

It was a lie, I was no where near slow.
    Crime doesn't pay?
My English Professor in college told us that it was legal to come to his class high. I didn't personally, but he enjoyed the fact that kids tried it before an 10am class and just sat there all class, starving. He even brought snacks. I think he had some loose screws though.
Yea, my Global teacher two years ago told the class that if we supported President Bush, then we couldn't call ourselves ';true'; Americans.

I was about to smack him, you can't tell your students what to believe.
I went to a Catholic school.

My ex wife's boyfriend has been feeding false information to my kids. Is there any legal action I can take?

He tells my daughter her last name will change to his when he marries my ex which is not true.My ex wife's boyfriend has been feeding false information to my kids. Is there any legal action I can take?
    Your question being, can you take legal action against some who lies to your daughter? Say something playful - ';what is he nuts - no way, I love you too much for that to ever happen!';

Well, I doubt it because if that were possible we would all be in court. Children are vulnerable but they are most impressed by their parents and all you need to do is reassure them that ';no such thing will happen'; - then drop it because if they see you react to such notions it will only stir up anxiety into their mental well being and I am sure that is not your intention.

They are not old enough to interpret the law and need to concentrate on being kids. Tell the your ex to tell her boyfriend to grow up and stop causing the kids to worry if he really cares about her!My ex wife's boyfriend has been feeding false information to my kids. Is there any legal action I can take?
You know it is not true. Just tell the daughter that is not going to happen. Then when it does not happen, the step parent will look like an idiot and the kid will know that they are all BS. This guy is short a few cards from a full deck.
Look it up on the net then print out the desired information on last names, explain it to your daughter and then have her take the print outs to the boyfriend. That should help your daughter to realize your telling the truth and the boyfriend will have to stop being a so and so.
I don't think there is any legal action you can take nor do I think it's necessary. Just assure them that it isn't true. If they're old enough to understand beyond that tell them the boyfriend would have to have your permission to change their names and you would never allow that.
Children are smart..they know more than you realize..speaking truth to her is your best parenting possible..those who lie to children are very unwise parents. You have the power to control this situation and please put this person in their place.
Your ex would not be able to legally change your daughters last name unless YOU, as her father, gave permission for this to be done. Save your money for bigger court battles and make sure to correct your daughter.
Not much you can do about that except try to explain to your daughter the truth. The more she knows about the truth the less she will believe this guy about anything
Tell the ex-wife if it keeps up you will go back to court for change of visitation. Tell them both in no uncertain terms to STOP the games with the kid......

Is it possible to sue a newspaper for false information on my sons robbery case, saying he's home and he not.

They probably printed the info from the police. You can ask them to retract the false statements, they would have to do that. If you just need money, you may have a difficult time suing since they probably printed what they got. Go for a retraction instead, %26amp; that will correct the false info.Is it possible to sue a newspaper for false information on my sons robbery case, saying he's home and he not.
maybe not the paper but from who he got the infoIs it possible to sue a newspaper for false information on my sons robbery case, saying he's home and he not.
So you're trying to obtain righteousness out of your son's wrong doing? He obviously stole from someone and now he has to face the consequences, whether or not you feel they are totally deserved
Sadly, no. But you could possibly get the paper to print a correction.
    HA, no.
Usely for us mere morsels they just print an apology in the paper,I'm afraid you need money to sue, well not unless it was some thing really big.

Well I'm thinking now,if your son did the robbery well I think you have more things to worry about.
No. No legal grounds to sue.
On what grounds? I doubt it very much. Why not try a slip-and-fall in a corner shop?
The best that you can hope for is for them to print a correction. the press is highly protected by the first amendment (freedom of speech, religion and the press).
nope if so all the major magazines would be out of buisness

try proposing a slander case to ur lawyer
If the newspaper is reporting information that they KNOW is false, that is illegal (it's called libel). If they are just mistaken, you need to correct them not sue them.
    Yes you could!

Where did all this false information about obama come from?

it happens with both McCain and Obama, sometimes they watch each other, on tv and etc, giving a speech, then they take the part they use as trash talk, instead of the whole remark. go to factcheck.org and see the truth. does anyone out there think McCain looks and gestures like the general on King of Hill. Where did all this false information about obama come from?
    Link? Source?

Many of the sources regarding questions to Obama have come from legitimate and smart scholars in the US that have questioned Obama and Obama only tries to sidestep and Obama then squarely places the blame back to the questioner.

Again.. any links or sources to your statement (not a question)Where did all this false information about obama come from?
I find nothing false about the fact he is in court trying to prove he is a citizen, Thats ';wright'; and unless you just fell out of the sheep wagon you could see too! And McCain, well dont even get me started, these two neocons definatley have a nice herd going. Wake up they sold you out with the bailout, have fun paying for that the rest of your life, meanwhile there are other choices you know. Join the real world and vote 3rd party.
Oops, Barry let it slip in front of a camera. Barry's been bad for a long, long time.

Barry admitted it on TV. He loves Carl Marx's ideology. That's no lie friend. Please join me in voting for the only true American left in the race.

Barry, please take your Marxist/Leninist ideology somewhere besides the United States of America. Cuba needs a new leader. Now that even your supporters know the truth, we Americans will be voting for the only remaining candidate.

    Senator John McCain
Do you mean the false information that he is going be the next great president beating McCain on Nov. 4.

It came from the deluded Obama followers.
McCain/Palin and their gay friends at Fox news, like O'Reilly, Hannity, et al.

So I hear O'Reilly and Hannity like to do it Brokeback mountain style.
the same people who said that McCain fathered a black baby out of wedlock. and now McCain is just using that same evil republicans machine to get what he wants.

Lying ill educated Republicans. And frankly... alot of people that are like Bush. And dumb ignorant people believe it.

    The supposed ';right';
uh, from his past?? yeah, just keep covering up that cat turd, then it won't stink quiet as bad.
What is the ';false'; information you are referring to?
    False information = propaganda.
The hopes and dreams of the right wing.
The right wing nut jobs that have mastered churning out lies.

At the very least, the corpses of the officers would have been picked clean by souvenir hunters.

Should American Media be held responsible for reporting false information that hurts our war effort?

There is no such thing as Investigative reporting in America.Any slob can say anything about the U.S. and our military and the media runs with it without one iota of proof.Where is John Wayne when you need him?Should American Media be held responsible for reporting false information that hurts our war effort?
I wish their was responsible reporting, the least they could do is show a disclaimer that all opinions expressed by random interviews are not those of the station, and their validity has not been verified. Most people realize this , but it only takes a few that believe a false statement to start a storm. Also if they actually tried to make it ';fair and balanced'; by showing all sides would be nice, and having followups that checked the accurately of statements made would be great. They go after stories accurate or not that bring in and hold the attention of viewers, can't entirely blame them for that They would go off the air if they didn't. I do think there should be some legal recourse if someone or something is deliberately injured by intentional falsehoods for ratings, but this would be hard to prove, and the damage done may be permanant.Should American Media be held responsible for reporting false information that hurts our war effort?
Yes but it will never happen we are to lazy.
Oh there's still investigative reporting, it's just people like you if they don't like what they hear call it media bias.

The government is usually the first source of misinformation, can we say weapons of mass destruction, al quaeda was part of 9/11?
Held responsible? By whom? Punished? Not in this country.
    ';Any slob can say anything about the U.S. and our military and the media runs with it without one iota of proof.';

Wow- that sounds like Bush and Fox News!
I'm a journalist so take exception a little bit. There is not a 'media' that does stuff. There is no conspiracy. There are different media outlets, all of which have different standards, and although many try not to (except FOX) they do have a political slant, even if it's a subconscious one. If a journalist runs stories without proof they won't be a journalist for long, all journalists should try to get balance in a story and allow right of reply. I agree that balance is lacking in a lot of media, but it's not necessarily incorrect, just not the whole truth. You might argue 'what's the difference?' but news stories are only so long, the journalist and the sub and the editor need to make a call on what information is vital and what isn't. Sometimes journalists disagree on what needs to be in a story, and that's when the public get angry and confused.

Has Wikipedia ever given false or bias information?

My professor told me not to use it because anyone can change the info or put bias views. Has anyone here seen this on wikipedia? Also if you have anything interesting about how wrong it was or bias, because I haven't seen any yet.Has Wikipedia ever given false or bias information?
Of course Wikipedia is prone to error, often malicious error, and other times simply bone-headed editing and reverting over a point that is simply not clearly known. I'm going to give you three examples that have been detailed, regarding the articles about the U.S. senators, about Abraham Lincoln, and about the founder of Little Caesars Pizza and owner of the Detroit Red Wings and Detroit Tigers.

Please read them carefully, and I think you will be satisfied with my answer.Has Wikipedia ever given false or bias information?
There has been a lot of times when I see some articles vandalized, but these are usually fixed within a few hours.

I haven't seen wrong information though, if there was, it was only minimal.

Your professor is correct that some of the articles may be biased in favor of the views of the writer. But this is probably the case with any article.
Wikipedia used to say that Obama was born in Kenya. He was actually born in Hawaii.

Some research classes will do an experiment, the teacher will tell the students to go to Wikipedia and change something. Anything no matter of the accuracy of what they enter. Then they will show that as an example of why not to use Wikipedia for a reference.

Your professor is correct. Use the Encyclopedia Britanica instead. All info in there is fact checked before it is entered.
Yes. You can see misinformation yourself by lurking RecentChanges and NewPages.

  • What happens if travel agents give you false information?

e.g. offer you to a cold destintion in the summer when you want a summer sun holidayWhat happens if travel agents give you false information?
Being a travel agent myself, I would say that you had better find a new agent. A good agent will listen to what you have to say and take into consideration the activities, climate, and atmosphere you are looking for. Now, if you have already gone on a vacation and it was not what the agent promised it would be, then I would suggest going to the agency and talking with the agent/owner of the agency. Unfortunately, it is a past trip and it isn't like a TV that you can return if it doesn't do what is promised. If you go to a destination that is typically warm and they happen to have a cold snap while you are there - that is just life. No one can control mother nature. However, if you are asking for The Florida Keys or Antigua and your agent is suggesting Alaska, well I would say your best interest is not at heart and find a new consultant. If this is a friend/aquaintance, then just be firm with them about what you are wanting. It is there job to deliver a vacation that meets your requests. What happens if travel agents give you false information?
You must be prety poor in your world geography to get sold a place that you thought would be hot and it ended up being cold, what did he/she say this is a little known secert welcome to hot and sunny antartica. Or what welcome to africe the place were no one sweats
You just got taken if you listened to him. If this information was verbal and it cost you in some way to bad because it's your word against his. But if it was in writing then you can sue.
i would imagine that eventually people would start going to a travel agent who was competent?

The Iraq War. Bush thought Iraq had Weapons of Mass Destruction. What are some familiar situations in which people based their actions or opinions on false information?
Voting is one. Most people say voting is important, and it is, but they let it stop there. Informed voting is more important. Keeping track of what your political leaders are really doing and acting on this information is even more important. Our government is suppose to do what we want. But, without our voice, money, and support, they are left to do what they believe is right or what someone has convinced them to do.

Eating before you go to bed turns into fat. If you eat more than you burn, you will gain weight. If you don't exercise, the weight will not be muscle mass. If you starve yourself all day and eat just before you go to bed (let's say a 1500 calorie meal) you are going to lose weight. Most people have to have at least 2000 calories to maintain their weight.

These are just two I can think quickly. Wish you luck.
this should be a quite easy question for you you answer if you look at it from a political point of view

those in power base most of there actions on false info it is either because they are ignorant or trying to fool us thinking people are incredibly stupid...

take war for instance they went to ';free'; Iraqi from a dictatorship corrupt system and to free them they kill them

millions killed supposedly to save them from there government that killed thousands

even though their system is corrupt they didnt make it better, but much much worse

they said it was for terrorism to save our country

when really its for oil and for those in power to get money

for money they kill how selfish is that how much greed can a person have

and that is a great example on actions for false opinions

they went to war and killed to save people?

    how incoherent is that?

I need false information. Is Y!A R%26amp;S a good place to get really bad information about religion?
Actually, I'd say it's as decent as any place if what you're looking for is different viewpoints, rather than a group of people who all feel the same. Though yeah, if you're looking for the absolute truth on something, and you're willing to believe any answer given to you, it's not so great. Though you would think most people don't come here looking for absolute truth, or are so gullible they would believe one persons answer to be truth without researching farther (or already believing it themselves).
There are some good and bad answers here. If you take the time to look and see behind the bias promoted by both sides on any given issue. Who can recite the facts from authentic sources? As you get to know the individuals you also get a sense of their bias and why they are determined to dismiss an issue without fair minded consideration.

Not really breaking the law, but not operating PAYE correctly. After 7 days, take claim for unpaid wages to an ET - forms are online. P45 doesnt really matter as he is now going to be self employed.

    Well, why not just keep it that way--that way if anyone ever looks up your public arrest record, they might not realize it's you. The information is not ';false;'; it is ';inaccurate.';
In Australia you can.Get a lawyer.
Those are clerical errors, they will not get your case dismissed

Do you believe any human ever added any false information to the Bible either intentionally or unintentionally?

Possibly with ';new translations'; that were written by different people in like the new age movement etc.

There comes a warning with that though in the following scripture:

Do not alter (delete or add to) God's Word

';You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you.'; Deuteronomy 4:2

';...if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed. For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.'; Galatians 1:9-10

';For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted, you may well put up with it!'; 2 Corinthians 11:4 [I.e. don't tolerate heresy]

';Whatever I command you, be careful to observe it; you shall not add to it nor take away from it.'; Deuteronomy 12:32

';Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him. Do not add to His words, lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar.'; Proverbs 30:5-6

';If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.'; Revelation 22:18-19Do you believe any human ever added any false information to the Bible either intentionally or unintentionally?
I think some translators could have possibly inserted some of their own bias as to the interpretation, but no, I don't believe that any humans has ever added information.

It is important to check the original Greek where interpretations seem like they might have been influenced by bias. For example, the NIV says in Matthew 5;17 that Jesus didn't come to abolish the law. However, Ephesians 2:15 says he did abolish the law. When I checked the original greek for the word translated ';abolish,'; I found out that it is acutally 2 different Greek words with slightly different meanings. Also, in the King James, Proverbs 31:10 translates a word into ';virtuous';, possibly because it was talking about a woman. All 3 places that this word is tranlated vituous is when it is talking about a woman. Most other places, this word is translated as strength and valor, not virtue.

Thus, it is important to go to the original Greek sometimes.Do you believe any human ever added any false information to the Bible either intentionally or unintentionally?
Bible scholars have irrefutable proof that the story of Jesus saving the prostitute (the ';cast the first stone'; story) was not originally in the Bible and was added much later.

Whoever made that up certainly told a good moral story there. It's just a pity it had nothing to do with Jesus.
Just check the earliest Christian Bible found, the Codex Sinaiticus which dates from 5th century--has over 30,000 variants in changing and editing what the copyist believed was right or wrong, even with doubt they went with their ';feelings'; ... check on line ...I have over 22 various ';editions'; of the NT and they don't agree. Look up the oldest gospel Codex Tchacos which is also online, it liberate Judas as the bad guy %26amp; makes sense, as the people that had to rush and put a book together were at war with 100 various Christian sects and the Arians were the majority until the First Church Council of Nicaea in 325 ce, when the decided 'Who is Jesus'; and ';What is the triinity';, even the last supper deal was confused with Pesach Shani because no one knew Judaism and ended up believing in the transubstantiation around 1200 ce. Check yourself.
No every human who tinkered with it was instructed by God and was perfect and flawless like all Christians are. That includes the kings and priests and shepherds and goatherders all of whom were chosen by God and though we do not know who they are we must believe that they were chosen by God and immaculate in every way and they did not make any errors at all.
no. neither. because they were inspired by the holy spirit. the Bible is inerrant meaning there are no errors in the teachings of the Bible. there might be spelling mistakes, as it was written by human beings, and we are not perfect. but the teachings are from God. so they are inerrant.
if there was any error in the word of god when jesus walk on this earth he would have corrected but he said to the father your word is truth, and the disciples are the one that put the new testament together and jesus to told them he would bring to their remberance what to write down, and for one to be a desciple they had to be with jesus all through his teaching, and be there at his death on the cross and be there at his resurection, when some one does not relize the differens between the old law and the new covenant jesus ushered in at his death, under the old law if you dont forgive your brother then god will not forgive you, contrast, but under the new covenant we are to forgive our brother as christ has forgiven us totaly, read hebrews 10:16,18
    obviously,

as the only other choice would be that a deity intentionally put all of that false, contradictory, and confusing information in there. So, between the two choice, one make obvious sense, the other doesn't
Definitely.....My 1880 Family Bible has the Books that were omitted in later versions.......The Bible is a great Propaganda 'Book', but it is One of the best guidelines for correct Human Behavior.....!!
Sure. The KJV has ton of human additions/removals/changes. People are imperfect. It happens.
Yes because it was written in latin and sometimes it doesnt make sense on how its worded so I think it was more translation or lost in translation :)
Yes; otherwise, all Bible translations wouldn't have contradictions with each other.
I believe the whole thing is false information.
    Obviously.
    Blasphemy
    It's possible.
    Of course....both actually.
Yea the whole thing. Who do you think wrote it, Giraffes?
    oh yes!!

more than . we will ever know...

What are some examples of members of the Discovery Institute disseminating false or inaccurate information?

Here's a great article on the misrepresentation by the Discovery Institute of ';mistakes'; made by Judge Jones in the Dover trial.

    http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/quotes/m鈥?/a>

And here's another one on the quote mining of Stephen Jay Gould by the Discovery Institute:

    http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/quotes/m鈥?/a>

Here's one on the quote mining of Eugenie Scott:

    http://sensuouscurmudgeon.wordpress.com/鈥?/a>

And another article on the basic practice of quote mining by the Discovery Institute:

    http://ncseweb.org/rncse/22/4/quote-mini鈥?/a>

And another case where Casey Luskin of Discovery Institute was caught quote mining:

    http://scienceblogs.com/pharyngula/2008/鈥?/a>

So what is 'quote-mining' and why is this important?

Quote mining is blatantly taking a quotation where an author says X ... and then carefully leaving out part of the quote so that it appears that the author was saying the OPPOSITE OF X!

For example, the Discovery Institute ';quotes'; Stephen Jay Gould as saying:

    ';The fossil record with its abrupt transitions offers no support for gradual change. All paleontologists know that the fossil record contains precious little in the way of intermediate forms; transitions between major groups are characteristically abrupt.';

But the Discovery Institute leaves out the rest of Gould's words:

    ';Although I reject this argument (for reasons discussed in [';The Episodic Nature of Evolutionary Change';]), let us grant the traditional escape and ask a different question.';

So they leave out the very words that make it clear that Gould was *rejecting* that argument, to make it sound like Gould was *accepting* the argument!

    Why is quote-mining important?

Because the dishonesty is not subject to debate. This isn't an issue of some scientific claim where people might disagree. This is a question of *WHAT SOMEBODY SAID*.

If the Discovery Institute cannot even represent honestly what somebody said ... something that can be checked simply by looking at the original author's text ... then how on earth can they be trusted to represent complex scientific *evidence* and *logic* honestly? What are some examples of members of the Discovery Institute disseminating false or inaccurate information?
I think a bigger and better question is, are you aware of the examples of intentional fraud and deceit on the part of those who promote the false idea of evolution?

Examples include Haeckel's fraudulent drawings; the Piltdown man hoax, and the peppered moth fraud.

Below please find links to some examples.

Please note that those who preach evolution are the ones who are suppressing the truth.

  • What is the faine for giving the cop false information?

i got caught driving on a suspended and gave the cop my mom's name and i was speeding so what kind of trouble am i in i need to be prepared this is all in michiganWhat is the faine for giving the cop false information?
Been in trouble before? How old are you? More worried about what your Mom is going to do, or the judge? Obviously, since your license is suspended, you've had some kind of ';issue';. You may be able to plea to false information on a misdemeanor and pay the speeding fine, but you are at least going to have probation and some hefty fines. What is the faine for giving the cop false information?
I wouldn't know what a ';faine'; was, but I could tell you that you committed a misdemeanor for giving false information for an official state document. Also impersonation (fraud). I am sure your mother isn't going to be too happy as well - wow, you gave your mother up for your negligence? Good daughter!

    Yes, you are in trouble.
It depends on your local state laws on whether you are looking a ';fine'; or jail time. I hope you didn't sign the summons using the false name!
Well, it varies from state to state, here where I live, its a trip straight to jail
    How about jail?
In the state of florida it is a charge.

Republicans: Can you believe that some people actually feel BAD when they repeat false information?

Not a republican - but I was pleased to see Media Matters and Rachel Maddow apologize for their lies.Republicans: Can you believe that some people actually feel BAD when they repeat false information?
    .

The ones who feel badly are the ones who apologize.

The ones who feel badly but just a-keep on doing it are the Republicans and their smear-machine operatives (Karl Rove, Alex Castellanos, Michelle Malkin, FOX)... and now the Conservative Party guy in upstate New York), and what's missing?

    THE APOLOGY!!!

    To them, ';That's just business, Charlie.';

I don't know what Rachel Maddow had to recant about; but over a very long period of time, I've seen her have to amend or correct a previous segment or statement, twice.

I have NEVER seen nor heard any of the rabid foam-flecked screaming bonkers harridans of the far right, and Hannity, Limbaugh, Beck, O'Reilly, Levin, Savage and many others have had ample opportunity to disavow the nutcases and the paranoia and the lies and the distortions and the perversion of truth.

    NEVER

And I can recall MANY such reasons for them to crawl on their knees in public to disavow their own lying beings... I hope for it, but I'll see that Russia-Alaska bridge built long before any of those banshees will ever admit to their miserable, divisive, anti-productive, pro-corporate selves that their lives are lies.

    LIES.

.Republicans: Can you believe that some people actually feel BAD when they repeat false information?
I'm not even sure they understand they are repeating false information, because they can't be bothered to take 5 seconds reading other sources, books, studies, etc. to verify against anything they hear on Fox. That's the worst part of it. They don't even know.
Well, in the case of the smears libs have been making about Rush, they only feel bad when they get caught red handed. But that is typical of a lib
You mean like when Al Sharpton made up statements that Rush never said about slavery?

And all the networks repeated it without any fact check?

I don't think either Al or the media felt in the least bad about spreading lies.
Republicans don't feel bad because they can't recognize false information.
    I can see your point.

Liberals don't feel bad about it at all.
I suppose we're lucky that Obama is not afflicted with this condition. They'd have to bring in Xanax by the truckload.
I'm sure a few libs do feel bad now and then. But Obama doesn't even know truth when he sees it.
haha liberals don't feel bad at all.
Yeah, so why hasn't your conscience stopped you yet?
glad to know a few of you libs have some shame.
Is this your attempt at an apology for your tenure at Y/A Politics?
Does that stop them from doing it though?
I've noticed Democrats never do. I feel so sad for them. Lies are all they know.
Probably won't get a lot of answers.

Goes back to those Christian values.

Someone put me down as a witness without my permission? and they gave false information?

i was put down as a witness and the party that filed the report gave false information, and my biggest believe is not to lie so what should i say to the police officers? and will the party get arrested for fraud?

thanks :DSomeone put me down as a witness without my permission? and they gave false information?
Tell the party that put you down as a witness that you will not lie and give them a chance to remove you as a witness. DO NOT LIE AS THAT CAN LAND YOU IN TROUBLE. Tell the truth.Someone put me down as a witness without my permission? and they gave false information?
Let the ';party'; know you aren't backing their play and they had better make changes in the report to avoid false reporting charges.
You tell the truth. What the police do so far as the reporting person is concerned isn't your problem. That person put him or herself in the situation by making a false report and expecting you to lie to back him/her up. Some friend, huh?
Don't lie - that'll get you in big trouble. If this individual has a lawyer, let the lawyer know your testimony might hurt the case, and perhaps they'll remove you. But don't lie to the cops, or under oath.

This person is no friend if they put you in this position - let them know it, and that you won't lie for them.
Cover yourself. Tell the truth. Hard to say if the person will get arrested. Just have to wait and see.
Your permission is not needed to be listed as a witness. For example, say there is a fight at a party you were at and teh police asked teh hosts who was at the party and could be a witness. The host would list you whether you wanted to be listed or not. Perfectly okay.

As for the other person lying, that is not your problem. Just make sure you do not lie - the correct term would be perjury - lying under oath.
You should just answer the questions you are asked, truthfully, and let the police finish up their investigation. The police just take the information and pass it along to the prosecutor, who decides whether anyone will be charged with anything.

The other party may or may not be charged with something. It really depends on more information than what you gave here.
They don't have to get your permission. Unless you are a lawyer or physician asked to testify against a client or patient, you can be made to testify. To do so they would have to send you a subpoena (usually notarized).

Tell the truth! You can get in a lot of trouble for lying under oath.

What statement is true or false, Undeniable, unreliable information?

What is that one statement or comment that you are tired of hearing about or wonder where in the hell do they get their information regard people of the LGBT community? I mean beside the obvious one, ie: they are all molesters or were molested as children, can't have children, men wanting to be women and women wanting to be men, you're heard them. What one grates your nerves? What statement is true or false, Undeniable, unreliable information?
The one that just because I'm gay and some tough guy taunts me that I'm going to back down and cower in a corner. Ha! Fat chance. Last time I hit some guy he didn't get up until after the ambulance came. What statement is true or false, Undeniable, unreliable information?
Statistically, the vast majority of paedophiles are otherwise heterosexual. And based on my years on the gay scene it is very unusual to find a homosexual who had a good relationship with their father. Their father is in most cases absent, abusive, or is not as emotionally respected or identified with as the mother. Most paedophiles do learn their behaviour as a child from an adult male, usually someone who holds a position of respect to the victim, this can be anyone, school teachers, parents, doctors, and apparently lots of members of the clergy. Some paedophiles convince themselves that because the child they are molesting is male then they are just gay and so they feel comfortable socialising in the gay community, and are able to convince themselves that they just ';like them young'; Sick but true.
The one where everyone thinks that you have to be either exclusively straight or gay, otherwise you're a whore or a man-slut.

Even people within the community keep saying that. I keep getting so much blowback about being bi. People think i get ';sticked'; all the time and that i'm always sleeping with random men and have deseases or whatnot. Or that I'll never be happy with just one sex.

Actually I'm quite monogamous and don't even have sex when I'm not in a relationship. I've never had a ';hookup';, and I'm sure I'm less ';slutty'; than most les girls.

Or I'll automatically go for guys over girls because I'm a pathetic conformist who would ditch someone I was in love with just because of what other people think.

This one particularly bothers me, because it's a prejudice coming from WITHIN the community, and not only from outside.
Bad relationship with father, overbearing mother.

    Someone tried to use the bad relationship with father one on me, So I kept asking asenine question such as! ';So..I wanna ***** my father?, So...I wanna kiss my father?, So..I wanna live with my father, So...I wanna marry my father?!'; You get the picture %26gt;_%26gt;
the one about how we are all possessed by demons.

i mean, really. not in any christian text does it state anything about gay people being possessed (actually not really gay people, but that's not the point).

some people are so naive to believe anything.....
The one that grates on my nerves, that my daughters will be gay because they are being raised by two woman.

Makes me wonder how my straight parents raised a gay daughter.

    L
gosh all of those make sense to me, the one that gets me is the outrageous claim that babies are '; born '; homosexual.
    True

What do i do about a library that keeps books with false information about islam?

naturally, i want to have these books removed, because they dont help anyone learn the truth about islam... and we really dont need any more false information going arround....

what can i do to get these books removed from the library??What do i do about a library that keeps books with false information about islam?
You should apprach a librarian and explain the situation to them. Offer to donate books that tell the truth about Islam.

Don't burn books. Book burnings symbolise censorship and no freedom of speech.

    Good luck and God bless,

newsiesno1What do i do about a library that keeps books with false information about islam?
Library's have a board of directors and a director. You can make your case with these people.

It would be wise to suggest alternative books.

Library's also accept and put into circulation books which were donated. Of course these books should be as close to ';mint-condition'; (as the comic book industry says) as possible. But, there is no guarantee the books will be circulated. Allah subhana wata'ala will be ';looking'; out your intentions, so insha'Allah, you're in a win-win situation.

Donating books is probably the best way to go because the library is a public place.
Well I don't think there is anything you can to remove the book. The best thing you can do is tell people that the book is an inacurrate portrayal of Islam. You could tell them of books that are more correct or perhaps inform them about the flaws of these inaccurate books so that they will not be misinformed.
I think these books are important, why??

Because we can learn more about our religion from these books, how??

Well, when someone spread lies about Islam, you go research and you find out the truth.

Also, these books help us to know how Islam enemies think, and how they convince people to stay away from Islam. Which helps more explaining Islam and knowing why those people hate/dislike Islam.

I personally learned ALOT and my faith grew ALOT after I started reading Islam enemies posts and their claims. I started questioning my faith to know if what they are saying is true or wrong, and understand how and why.
Ask a sheikh to speak to the library management (If it's in a school, then ask him to speak to the principal) and kindly ask them to remove the books that clearly speaks false statements on Islam.

But be sure to replace them with the true books :)
Libraries are places to increase knowledge and wisdom, whether you agree with the books or not. This is a benefit of living in a free society. If this offends you, then stay away from libraries.

    I really hope Mohamed You's a troll.
there are tons of books, what i would do, maybe i will add a note next to the false information (on the page) and clarify the mistakes. so when anyone else read it, he or she can see the right information.
Submit a book that you find with truths about Islam and leave a note in the ones that don't. Write a nice letter saying 'I hope you are aware...' or 'These facts are misleading:(and list them)...'
you can't really do anything.inshallah people who are looking to learn about Islam will find other resources and find correct information
It's not false...you just don't like it. There is nothing you can do in a free country. Move to an Islamic country (where the truth and questioning Islam is illegal) maybe.
How about you speak to the staff about the issue and if you have any books which are good recommend them to them.
what do you do about ANOTHER ';niqabi'; that shows off her eyes on the internet and defeats the whole purpose of hijab/modesty?
its a free world you cant do anything about it

they have anti-christanity books there also

thats the result of freedom of press and i dont care to much about those books
you know who burned books he didnt agree with?

    hitler

its a library they have all kinds of books get over it
Let people choose truth, if they don't want let them choose evil.
all religion is fiction so how can it be false?
BURN THAT BOOKS. SIMPLE.IT SHOULD BE BURN SO THAT NO ONE CAN STUDY THEM.

If a person places false and slanderous information about a military officer and his family on the ?

Internet in this yahoo questions but is visible on the internet when someone Google the name of the military member... what legal rights does he/she have, and the family members? If a person places false and slanderous information about a military officer and his family on the ?
It's a civil matter and one that would need to be resolved in a lawsuit. To win such a lawsuit, the plaintiff must prove damages, such as financial losses due to such misinformation or lies, or damage to reputation that can be solidly verified as a dollar amount (say, loss of employment due directly and provably to the published misinformation).

If the misinformation does not deal with any specifics, but only generalities (such as military officers kill innocent civilians), then it comes under the classification of opinion and is not considered libelous or slanderous.

If a search engine produces sites where a named private individual is defamed, you (or your attorney) can contact the owner of the domain and request the removal of the offending information. The domain owner is under no obligation to comply, but often a site will do so in order to avoid any litigation. Otherwise, litigation (a lawsuit) will be the only option left.If a person places false and slanderous information about a military officer and his family on the ?
actually the term is libel if it's in print, slander is verbal. Libel is grounds to file a law suit. Consult a lawyer. You may also contact Yahoo saying the information is libelous and ask them to remove it.They may request proof but it doesn't hurt to start with that.
    All depends..If a civilian..Not much..Im the offender is military..Alot..

  • Should BBC be banned for reporting false information?

Here's an example. It's one of the headlines on BBC's website:

    Topic: ';US Global dominance set to wane';

    ';US clout will weaken as China and India grow more powerful';

Stop denouncing America. China and India will NEVER become superpowers. America was, is, and always will be the best, period.Should BBC be banned for reporting false information?
I'm still wresting with their report that food prices are dropping when a lot of stuff in our shops is going up in leaps and bounds. So, although I don't know the answer about China, you may well be right. Should BBC be banned for reporting false information?
Sorry my US friend but the headline is true. The US economy is constricting whilst China marches on. It will be the second largest economy with 20 years. India will be in the top 4. Europe will also become closer and stronger and you will have 3 superpowers. The US, China and Europe. India and Russia will not be far behind.

This will be a good thing America has become unchecked over the last 10 years it ignores the UN, it is responsible for the Global credit crunch because it controls most of the money. It is the biggest polluter. I realise they are all its bad points and it does have plenty of good points but 350 million people cannot dictate who over 6 billion live
The US media is so heavily influenced by politics and big business, it is a nice change to have someone report the news as they see it.

Naturally, the BBC is biased in it's own way, but they are known to report things fairly accurately without using the AP as it's only source.

Yes, the US is a superpower, but don't think for a second that the US is the only big kid on the block. Japan? China? Russia? They are not just pesky up-and-comers - they are the ones that own most of the national debt of the US.
The media makes false reports all the time. Originally I liked BBC news, but that was more than a year ago. Just change the channel to a news station you prefer, luckily we live in countries where we can choose the news we prefer to watch instead of having it chosen for us.

Unfortunately, India and China will be the next superpowers unless we stop exporting our jobs over there. The past twenty years has been the greatest transfer of wealth from the US to China, it's time to wake up and realize we need to stop sending our money oversees.
America won't be the dominant world power for much longer. It has to learn that there are other players on the scene that one day in the not too distant future, will have more money, bigger and better equipped armies, with more arms. China already dominates the world economically, it sells more goods to the rest of the world than any other nation on the planet. I don't care for them, on matters of justice and imprisonment of dissenters, but nor indeed America if it continues with its policy of we know best democracy. George W is the reason much of the world is in a mess, with instability in the middle east and a west thats increasingly looking fragile. The knock on effect of the housing bust has come from the US, and you are in debt up to your eyeballs, to the saudi's, and others, so perhaps its time for Obama when he finally comes to office to start making peace and not war, to think that america as a super power has had its day in the sun.

You probably won't agree or like what i have to say, but there you are.
I think the BBC is merely stating facts. China and India are huge and growing on a daily basis. You are perfectly entitled to believe that America is the best, but I have to ask - the best at what? Again facts would indicate that things are not going too well on your side of the Atlantic! That is not to say that things on this side of the pond are any better, but which country started the economic downturn?
If we banned broadcasting networks for reporting false info, we'd have no more media. Unfortunately China and India are becoming much more powerful relative to US. Our physical infrastructure is failing, what we have left of an economy is rigamortis, just look at the currency situation:

    http://finance.yahoo.com/currency/conver鈥?/a>

Plus China has been funded by capitolism for the last few decades, and them and their asian buddies (Russia, Japan, India) are all constructing new infrastructure, reconsolidating their currencies, and upgrading their military.
i dont agree with you that america is the best, not by a long shot. but with regard to the news you should take a lot of what you read with a pinch of salt, it is all gross exaggerations and half truths.

I think your wrong on the china not becoming a superpower front, they have enough man power to wipe us all out so be nice x
yes they will be superpowers so just deal with it. just because the Us wont be the only superpower if it remains one doesnt mean your country will stop achieving things. and as far as im concerned the bbc reports a lot more truth than the news outlet of your choice which im 100% sure is fox news. and by the way what theyre reporting isnt denouncing its stating opinion.
Someone isn't paying attention in History Class. In truth, America seems to be following a pattern similar to all previous major world empires.

In other words, we are nearing the end of our reign. And judging by the path we are taking and how our leaders are attempting to get out of it, I don't think its avoidable anymore.

They are making the exact same mistakes that Great Britain did, that Rome did, that Greece did, and so on down the line.
That story is in all the news feeds now. They didn't make it up, it's news, even if you'd rather it wasn't.

I'd be curious how you were planning on getting them banned, and from what. I think you can probably buy a filter for your computer so you can keep them out of your household.
The USA has dominated for so long. It's lonely out there, I say. It's about time somebody else share the burden. Since we cannot count on the Europeans, why not give India and China a try? Having said that, we are still going to be a big shot, just not the one and only. Cheers.
Considering the BBC is located in Great Britain, where the US has no jurisdiction, I don't think it will happen no matter how hard you try. Nor do I think it should. Only through criticism can we keep America honest. Sure other countries are much worse than the US, but they aren't claiming to be the best country ever.
YES, another example about a year ago the queen went mad when the BBC edited a video of a photo shoot she went for to make her out to be moaning and storming out of the shoot!

When in fact it was her just going into it lol
    Awww !

What's the matter ? Have you suddenly realised 'Planet America' aint so powerful any more ? Don't forget - your time-zones (and those in the rest of the world) are set in relation to the time in Greenwich, ENGLAND !
I don't agree with your last statement and America being the best, sounds like a 2 year olds statement.

But i do agree that the BBC is anti-american.
    You idiot.

BBC is reporting on a US Government report projecting what may happen in 25 years. See American sources below.
think you need to check your facts before you swallow another quart with your beef jerky

never knew trailers could get internet
What a delusional little mind you have
There is a saying that what goes up must come down. America has peaked, hold on tight.
you keep believing that if it will make you sleep good at night.
