Why is leviticus so full of patently false information?

Bats are birds.

Rabbits chew their cud.

Any fish with scales and fins is good to eat.

Etc.

Didn't ';god'; know anything about what he had created, or was he just content to have the book of his word be full of inaccuracies and outright lies? Why is leviticus so full of patently false information?
Leviticus is proof that, if there is a ';god'; as the fundies represent him to be, the bible could not possibly be ';his word.'; No almighty ';god'; would touch such a book of myths, lies, and violence with a 10 foot pole. Why is leviticus so full of patently false information?
In northern India, bats called “flying foxes” .

Would you care to take exception to that?

Bats and birds have wings and fly.

they have that in common.

Rabbits do chew their cud.

Ivan T. Sanderson on rabbits: “One of their habits, is the method of digestion. This is not unique to Leporids [hares, rabbits] and is now known to occur in many Rodents. When food, is available, the animals gobble it up voraciously and then excrete it around their home in a semi-digested form. After some time this is then re-eaten, and the process may be repeated more than once.”—Living Mammals of the World, 1955, p. 114.

I cannot rebut your example of ';etc.';
';Bats are birds'; - God classified bats as birds because that's how the Israelites would have seen them at the time. Think about it, they've got wings, and obviously science wasn't advanced then. If God called bats what they are, mammals, the Israelites wouldn't have known what he was saying. He always deals with us at a level we are capable of understanding.

';Rabbits chew their cud'; - it didn't say ';rabbit.'; The word is more often translated as ';coney'; or ';hyrax';. Their article on Wikipedia goes into good detail on their mentions in the Bible - for a better explanation than I can give, go check it out at this link: tp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyrax#Histori…

As for the fish thing, I'm not entirely certain as I'm not at all knowledgeable about fish. Which fish with scales and fins are NOT edible, first? Another thing is what areas of the world and depths of the ocean do those types of fish inhabit. Maybe the Israelites were in an area where inedible fish were not found. You'll have to ask someone else about that.

I hope I've helped to answer your questions. :)
Rabbits do chew their cud!

The Hebrew phrase for ‘chew the cud’ simply means ‘raising up what has been swallowed’.... rabbits and hares practice refection, which is essentially the same principle as rumination, and does indeed ‘raise up what has been swallowed’. The food goes right through the rabbit and is passed out as a special type of dropping. These are re-eaten, and can now nourish the rabbit as they have already been partly digested.
I think the operative word here is ';archaic'; and it is also why a lot of people drift away from the church. However I've noticed that we today have lost a lot of knowledge from the ancients and knowledge that has been learned over the years - meaning that for some things we have to learn all over what generations long ago had learned. I think it is unfortunate that Leviticus tells us of all these laws, but doesn't seem to give us the detailed information regarding those laws, or how or if we can avoid transgressing those laws. It seems we just have to find out for ourselves why all these laws are important and are supposedly there to protect us....
rabbits do chew there cud look it up.

fish with scale are good to eat. unlike the scaless puffer that is toxic.

and in the time off the bible there was not a wide brake down on animals and men would have understud that bats were not like bird because there was not a wide study of each and every animal like today.

so before the next post like this you might want to google some facts even just one.

I have not seen any inaccuracies or lies in the 40+ years of reading the bible.

Perhaps it is your translation that is inaccurate.
God knows everything,
Because 'god' didn't write the Bible, any of it! It was written by men who where recounting the beliefs of their time and place.
LOL @ Fireball! She obviously hasn't even read the religious text she follows so dearly...

Your splitting hairs nevertheless I still believe
