Or do you think they are different? Explain why you think that way.Is ';deceiving people'; and ';giving false information'; the same thing?
This is not the way the companies I have worked for felt, but only my personal opinion. On employement applications, there is a disclaimer that says that you can be terminated if you lie on your application.
Deceive - this is something that you do, knowing it is illegal or immoral and purposely do it to gain something iin return.
I deceived my boyfriend and told him I was a virgin so he would marry me.
I didn't mention the felony conviction for embezzellment because I really wanted that accounting job and I don't think I am deceiving anyone.
I had no intention of returning to finish that job, and if that dumb old lady paid me in full ahead of time, she deserves to be deceived.
----- (I am actually talking myself out of my original viewpoint)
I know a lot of people won't agree with this but....
Giving false information is like a little white lie. You don't want to outright lie to someone so you might say you don't know anything.
I told my teacher my computer froze up so I couldn't complete the assignment. I really fell asleep and hope I don't get in trouble for ..
The reason that I am changing my mind is because I originally looked at the word ';deceive'; and I felt contempt. Giving false information is not as harsh.
But if you really think about it, it is just as bad depending on the outcome and reason of giving false info. If you give false info about a suspected thief, then you either give him an alibi, or bear false witness to an innocent person. If you give false info to the police, the are wasting their time and people can be hurt as a result.
Good question! Is ';deceiving people'; and ';giving false information'; the same thing?
They CAN be the same thing, but they aren't always. It depends on the intent.
To deceive is to cause someone to believe what is not true; mislead. You KNOW something is not true, but you lead someone else to believe it IS true by a statement, action or appearance. This is a lie. You don't necessarily have to state something to make it deception. Dyed hair is a deception. There is nothing bad or wrong about it, but it is still a deception.
Giving false information is a lie if you KNOW the information to be false. But if you are NOT AWARE that the information is false it is not a lie. For instance if you told someone that grass is green, unaware that somewhere someone had developed yellow grass, you would not be deceiving them, you would just be misinformed. Therefore you can give someone false information without deceiving them.
They might or might not be the same. You could deceive people without giving them any information at all. You deceive people when you dye your hair or wear a girdle. You give them false information when you lie to them or leave out pertinent details-which also deceives them.
It depends, if you give them false information on purpose them you are deceiving them, but it's not always the same thing coz you can give someone false information unknowingly.
Not exactly. Giving false information is telling a lie. You can deceive people without actually telling a lie.
