What rights does a patient have when a ER doctors give them false information regarding his/her tests results?

I work with a ER physician who is very evil and just doesn't seem to care about anything...he read an EKG result that was obviously abnormal and told the patient that everyhing was ok and that he didnt see any problems...later the on that day the patients family doctor read the EKG and saw very obvious problem..what type of rights does the patient have when a ER physician give them false information about their results? What rights does a patient have when a ER doctors give them false information regarding his/her tests results?
Let's talk about rights.

First. You have NO right to have knowledge of patients health records, so forget trying to do anything.

Second. Did him giving her false reports cause any PHYSICAL harm to her? Or put her in a situation where physical harm would be incurred?

Third. Did he rectify his errors when he found out? What rights does a patient have when a ER doctors give them false information regarding his/her tests results?
How do you know that the family doctor gave them the correct information? How do you know the EKG is abnormal?

Are you a physician? Are you trained to read an EKG? Not just reading the computer's interpretation, but actually trained in the science of electrocardiograms?

Are you sure that he said there are no problems?

A lot of times there may be abnormalities, but not emergent problems that need to be handled in the ER?

I truly love people like you who love to second guess what ever the physician does or does not do, even if you don't have the education, or training to make such a determination.

IF, and it is a big IF, the ER physician is mistreating patients, then those patients need to seek the advice of a QUALIFIED PROFESSIONAL. If you give information about the ER Physician to the patient or their family and you end up being wrong, then I would hope that the ER Physician goes after you for libel and slander
Other than agreeing wholeheartedly with the above poster, there is little left to say.

If in fact, this physician is as unqualified and, ';evil,'; as you say, I'm sure there are others at the hospital who question/have questioned his doctoring and would likely have taken measures to investigate.

And if in fact, you, ';work with this physician,'; you should be very well informed already regarding patient rights. Seeing as you aren't aware of those rights, you are hardly qualified to offer your opinions regarding his abilities. I would be very careful about sharing those unqualified opinions with anyone if I were you.
What was ';obviously abnormal'; about it? How would you know? How do you know what the family doctor saw? If the ER physician purposely gave false information just to be evil (and it can be proven in court), then yeah, that person can sue, but I'm willing to bet that's not what happened. It's just as easy to send someone to a telemetry unit as it is to discharge them, so what would be the point? I think the doctor has a lot more knowledge about this than you do (that's why he is a doctor and you are not) and I'm sure there are a lot of things you are just not aware of.
