Oh that is a very good question -
Was he wanted on a paper warrant or had this person just committed a criminal act.
Big difference in the time you get in jail.
If it is a warrant then you face just a false information charge and harboring a fugitive.
If this person just committed the crime - you can face the same criminal charge as an accomplice after the fact
Which one did you doWhat is a punishment for giving police false information?

(b) In this section, ';law enforcement agency'; has the meaning assigned by Article 59.01, Code of Criminal Procedure.
(c) An offense under this section is a Class B misdemeanor.
In Texas? That is the place to never commit a crime. You may get 15 years and that is if you are lucky.Call a Lawyer fast.
Here in Missouri, that would fall under several different crimes, which could get you up to two years in jail, plus a hefty fine.
HM obstruction of justice, accessory, they might not charge if you help them though
edit:oh and haboring a criminal
Well is Mississippi you get off easy. My cousin have given the Police false info several times. When she get's pulled over she gives her sister's info b/c she know her sister doesn't get in trouble. The my other cousin has to go to court to prove it wasn't her.
I don't even think she's ever had to pay a fine for given false info.
False info can get a range of penalties from a fine, to county jail, to a stretch in state prison. It depends on the state and the facts of the particular case. Not a real smart thing to do.
they shoot you
