My husband was offered a job and he excepted the position. He was told he needed to take a drug test, a physical and a background check done. He passed the drug test and his physical but he received a letter stating that per an out side agency's investigation he had a felony. My husband has never been convicted of a felony.
Now the position has been filled and he is out of this job. Is there something we can do?? Who should we talk to???False information??
Hire a lawyer to investigate this problem and clear your husband's name. Unfortunately, there's not much you can do about the lost job opportunity until you get to the bottom of this.False information??
he may of had his identity stolen,or do you really know your husband?some people have things hidden deep in there closet.i would suggest that they release the information to you or have a attorney file to have given to you.
He should contact the HR department of the company that requested the background check and ask them who conducted the check and who to contact to make corrections. He can them contact the background check company and inform them that the information they provided was incorrect. He may need to contact the court to correct the error.
Your case would be against those that falsely reported the felony not the ones who received that info.. I would definitely get that straightened away for future references, but there really is nothing you can do over this situation other then sue the ones who falsely reported this or made the mistake.
